Butch Jones Hired as Head Coach

Former Cincinnati and Tennessee Head Coach, Butch Jones, hired as the new head coach for Arkansas State. Jones, who is the special assistant to Alabama head coach Nick Saban, replaces Blake Anderson as he leaves to take a head coaching job at Utah State.

Jones has an impressive record 84-54 (Wins-Losses) and has won four bowl games in his 11 years as head coach. He has won 2 MAC and 2 Big East conference championships. He seeks to lead the Red Wolves in the Sun Belt Conference that is heavy in competition - Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, and Louisiana.

Despite Arkansas State's record this year at 4-7, Coach Anderson led the team to six of seven winning seasons (2-4 Bowl Games). He has recruited ten three star-caliber recruits for the Class of 2021, with Wyatt Begeal (Dual Threat Quarterback), from Cibolo, Texas, as the top recruit.

Jones last coached on November 11, 2017, when Tennessee suffered a 50-17 loss to Missouri in an SEC game. Tennessee had a 4-6 record and 0-6 in conference games.
