Cesaro's Top to Bottom WWE Tenure

04/15/2020

Claudio Castagnoli, better known by his ring name Cesaro, is from Switzerland. He is a former six-time tag team champion (with Tyson Kidd 1 and Sheamus 5). Cesaro became the United States Champion when he defeated Santino Marella at Summerslam 2012. He won 40 straight title defenses before being counted out versus The Miz. However, he would crush The Miz several times after.

During his tenure between August 24, 2012, and April 15, 2013, Cesaro performed as a horse for the WWE, going 89 wins, 20 losses, and 2 Disqualifications as United States titleholder. His feuds were with Zack Ryder, Santino Marella, Cody Rhodes, Sin Cara, Justin Gabriel, The Miz, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, and more. Cesaro's impressive signature moves are the Cesaro Swing, Multiple uppercuts, Swiss 19, German Suplex, and double underhook powerbomb. As his finishing moves, he adopted Tyson Kidd's sharpshooter, the Neutralizer, and the Swiss Death.

Cesaro's early success as a champion did not quite reach main event status. He has been a key utility man who will do anything the WWE asks him to do. Cody Rhodes spoke highly of Cesaro during his nine years with the company. He has been placed in positions to help other superstars win over him, such as Cedric Alexander, Ricochet, Aleister Black, Mansoor, and more. Cesaro had one opportunity to win the WWE Championship but lost to Alberto Del Rio in a disqualification. He failed to win over The Miz, Roman Reigns, and Dolph Ziggler in an Intercontinental Championship match.

On April 17, Cesaro will have an opportunity to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. His opponent will be Daniel Bryan, who has defeated him four times in singles matches. Cesaro's last match was a victory over Drew Gulak while Bryan lost to Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania. Theoretically and logically, Cesaro should be the favorite to win. Either by himself or the assistance of Zayn or Shinsuke Nakamura, it is time for Cesaro to shine and rise post WrestleMania 36 and the rest of the year 2020.
