Clash of Champions Update
WWE Clash of Champions 2020 PPV is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, and will start with their kickoff show at 6 PM ET at Amway Center (WWE Thunderdome), Orlando, Florida. Four confirmed matches as of now and predicting at least two more matches be added by the end of next week. Here is further detail on each card:
Drew McIntyre (C) vs Randy Orton or Keith Lee
Orton lost to McIntyre at Summerslam where nobody saw it coming off the way it ended. Neither superstar executed their finisher. However, each of them did so in back to back episodes of Monday Night Raw. Orton RKO'd McIntyre several times and attacked him backstage to cause a fractured jawline. In retaliation, the psychopath claymore'd the Viper that has put him out of commission for the time being. There is no word if Orton can be cleared in time for the PPV event.
Therefore, Keith Lee can be the next opponent. Last Monday, Lee and McIntyre ended their match in a no contest. The Retribution interrupted the match that caused chaos with The Hurt Business. The Limitless and Psychopath flipped over the ropes and landed on every Retribution member before the ending of the show. Could we see another match between Lee and McIntyre or will we see Orton show up on the next Raw episode?
Roman Reigns (C) vs. Jey Uso
Reigns' appearance at Summerslam had everyone believing the motto of the event - Never saw it coming. Reigns would win the title at Payback and will make his first defense against his cousin Uso.
Uso earned his number one spot by replacing the injured Big E. He defeated Sheamus, King Corbin, and Matt Riddle. Uso took a big step for the spotlight from being a tag team champion with his brother to a Universal Champion possibility. That is a long shot since Reigns is a newly crowned champ. With Reigns operating alongside Paul Heyman, it's going to be hard to convince the WWE Universe that Uso can pull an upset.
Smackdown Women's Championship
Bayley (C) vs. Nikki Cross
Cross has not had any success against Bayley. For this reason, Sasha Banks had some involvement to allow Bayley to continue her reign as Champion. The scenario has changed as Bayley no longer has Banks at her side.
Cross lost to Bayley at the WWE Extreme Rules Horror Show and Friday Night Smackdown for the title. Will there be a "three times a charm?"
Bayley is currently at 338+ consecutive days as Smackdown Women's Champion. She continues to make history. Should she lose the title, the number will stop at 348.
Other storylines related to this match:
Sasha Banks can be a factor should she return with a vengeance.
Also, how will the relationship with Cross and Alexa Bliss. Bliss' aftermath with the Fiend can play a role in affecting the match.
Women's Tag Team Championship
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (C) vs. The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan & Ruby Riott)
The Riott Squad earned their spot as the number one contenders by defeating and eliminating the tag-team partnership of the Iconic.
Will Asuka defend her title against Natalya?
Jeff hardy vs AJ Styles vs Sami Zayn triple threat match for the real Intercontinental Championship? The IC Title has not been defended on PPV since WrestleMania. Could this be the event where we can see the title in a PPV event?
Bobby Lashley and Apollo Crews rematch! Could we see the United States Championship match?
