Coaching Carousel: Head Coaches on the move
It is not the end of the college football season and there are major announcements for a few schools. Lincoln Riley is heading to USC to become the new head coach. Riley and the Sooners suffered a loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in which for the first time since 2015, the Sooners will not go to the conference championship. Riley went 55-10, four Big 12 Championships, 1-3 in Bowl games, and 0-3 in the college football playoff tournament. He was awarded the Broyles Award (2015), and Big 12 Coach of the Year (2018).
Elsewhere, Billy Napier will leave Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and accept the Florida Gator head coaching job. On four seasons with Louisiana, Napier's record is 39-12. He finished the 2020 season ranked 15 (AP) and 16 (Coaches Poll). This season, Louisiana are 11-1 and will take on Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated the Mountaineers 41-13 on October 12.
Rumor: The Oklahoma Sooners are eyeing at NFL Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals Kliff Kingsbury. This is a hard sell since the Cardinals are in first place in the NFC West.
