DC 31 Seattle 19
In the inaugural game of the XFL, over 17,000 people watched the DC Defenders (1-0) defeat the Seattle Dragons (0-1).
Cardale Jones, former Ohio State Quarterback, led the Defenders to a 31-19 victory. He went 16-of-26 with 291 passing yards, two touchdowns, and rushed for 28 yards. Rashad Ross and Khari Lee each caught a touchdown pass. The special teams and defense did their part too as they each scored a touchdown. Elijah Campbell blocked the punt and Jonathan Celestin recovered the ball for a touchdown. Brandon Sylve intercepted a pass from Brandon Silvers at DC 31 and ran it back for 69 yards for a touchdown.
Silvers went 21-of-40 with 217 passing yards and three touchdown passes to Austin Proehl (2 TDs) and Trey Williams. The offense was only able to score one touchdown in the third quarter and shutout in the fourth.
Week 2: DC Defenders will host the New York Guardians and Seattle Dragons travel home and host the Tampa Bay Vipers.
