DC Defenders Cut Star Safety
Matt Elam was released by the DC Defenders on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020. According to Yahoo.com, the Safety was released to make room for a defensive back Joshua Jenkins who had been a part of Team 9.
Elam was a former 2013 first round pick by the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. Injuries and off the field legal issues kept him from succeeding. He was never re-signed to the organization. Elam played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders but was placed on suspension. He was later released. Now, with no definite answer as to why he was released, he is waived and may be the end of his football career.
DC Defenders are on a two-game losing streak. The last two weeks have been a disaster compared to the first two weeks. Maybe, this change will improve the locker room. They hope to get back on track as they host the St. Louis Battlehawks this Sunday.
