Hell in a Cell Preview

06/06/2021

Hell in a Cell is the upcoming PPV for WWE. It will be the last PPV without an audience as WWE is set to make their travel plans in July with fans attending. The broadcast will be from the Thunderdome, the residence inside the Yuengling Center, Tampa, Florida. As of now, there are three official match cards for the event. Here are the following matches:

Bobby Lashley (C) vs. Drew McIntyre - WWE Heavyweight Championship

Lashley became WWE Champion by defeating The Miz at Monday Night Raw on March 1st. He has successfully defended the title three times, with the last match being at WWE WrestleMania Backlash in a triple threat match against Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre. At Hell in a Cell, The Scottish Warrior and the Almighty will battle for the title. Each superstar is even (2-2) and seeks to break the tiebreaker in singles competition.

McIntyre earned his bid by defeating Kofi Kingston. Now that he has an opportunity, should he fail to capture the title again, Drew will most likely head to the back of line. There is no stipulation in the match as of yet. It is assumed that their match will be inside the Cell.

Rhea Ripley (C) vs. Charlotte Flair - WWE Raw Women's Championship

Ripley defeated Asuka at WrestleMania 37 Night 2. The Nightmare offered a challenge in which no other female superstar would have dared to do. With Asuka's acceptance, Ripley took advantage and outworked Asuka for the win. However, Charlotte was not happy. The Queen has made her presence in the ring and backstage with management. Charlotte has a strong case that has not been mentioned on live television. Ripley and Flair matched one time at Wrestlemania 36. The Queen defeated The Nightmare and became the new NXT Women's Champion. At Hell in a Cell, it will mark their second meeting in the singles competition. Can the Queen overcome The Nightmare again?

Charlotte's resume is remarkable at Hell in a Cell. In 2016, she main event and defeated Sasha Banks to become Raw Women's Champion. In 2019, she defeated Bayley for the Smackdown Women's Championship. Only Becky Lynch has defeated the Queen. Charlotte is in a perfect position to repeat her ways as champion as she seeks to take the title away from Ripley.

Bianca Belair (C) vs. Bayley - WWE Smackdown Women's Championship

This competition is a rematch from WWE WrestleMania Backlash. Belair has won two straight matches against Bayley as her record is 2 Wins to one. Bayley continues to harass Belair, resulting in Belair issuing a challenge for Hell in a Cell. This is what Bayley wanted and of course, she accepted. The longest-reigning WWE Women's Champion is pursuing her third championship reign and a four-time world champion.

Bayley is PWI 2020 Women of the Year. However, Bayley did lose the Smackdown title last year at Hell in a Cell to Sasha Banks. Can the EST of WWE leave Hell in a Cell victorious, or will Bayley surprise the WWE Universe with an upset?

Other matches can happen at Hell in a Cell:

Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro

Universal Champion: Roman Reigns (C) vs.?

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: Rey Mysterio & Dominik vs. The Usos

Intercontinental Championship: Apollo Crews vs. Kevin Owens
