Matt Riddle to Smackdown

05/26/2020

Multiple sources in the Wrestling Community are confirming that Matt Riddle will be moving to the main roster imminently. There have been some moves in recent weeks that are shaking up all the rosters in each brand. Most likely, new stars will be entering NXT and the balance between RAW is a way to boost up ratings.

A.J. Styles moved to Smackdown and is in the semifinals for the Intercontinental Championship Tournament title. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross moved to RAW feuding with the IIconics, Akira Tozawa bounced to RAW, NXT, and Main Event tapings. Charlotte Flair has wrestled in every brand and a few NXT Superstars, who have not established a platform, have been jobbers for other RAW and Smackdown.

It is remarkable to know that Riddle will be on the move. Hopefully, he is not thrown to the wolves and establishes his mark slowly, similar to Sheamus's return to Smackdown.

So, who is Matt Riddle?

Matt Riddle was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He is a former MMA fighter in UFC, Bellator MMA, and Titan FC. Later, Riddle made his debut in professional wrestling on February 7, 2015, at the Monster Factory in Paulsboro, New Jersey. He has held world heavyweight titles in six of eight wrestling programs.

In NXT, he has 115 Wins, 2 Draws, and 24 losses. That is an impressive 81% winning percentage, which is equivalent to Finn Balor and better than the current NXT Champion Adam Cole.

Although, Riddle has not had any success as a singles competitor when chasing a title. He went 0-for-7 when competing for the NXT North American Championship, losing to The Velveteen Dream and Roderick Strong. Riddle went 0-for-5 against NXT Champion Adam Cole.

Riddle caught his break by becoming an NXT Tag Team Champion with Pete Dunne by winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament and defeating the Undisputed Era for the titles.

On Wednesday, Riddle will challenge Timothy Thatcher in a cage with a special guest referee, Kurt Angle.
