Money in the Bank Review and Summerslam Predictions

07/04/2022

The 2022 Money in the Bank Premium Event was the 13th annual event produced by the WWE. It has become one of the biggest events of the year alongside the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Summerslam and Survivor Series. Seven matches were scheduled on Saturday to include two ladder matches. Here are the results and reaction on each match.

Starting with the women's money in the bank ladder match. Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss were the two favorites to either win the match. However, it was Liv Morgan who finally got over the hump and won the briefcase. Morgan can now cash in the contract at a time and place of her choosing.

In the women's smackdown championship match, Ronda Rousey retained her title by defeating Natalya. But it came with a price because Rousey was not at 100%. She suffered extreme pain from Natalya's signature move, the sharpshooter.

Liv Morgan would then run out from backstage and into the ring to cash in her contract. At 1 hour and 25 minutes after winning the briefcase, she wins the Smackdown Women's Championship.

What could happen next now that Morgan is the Smackdown Women's Champion? Natalya may play an angle that it was because of her, that she was able to cash in. Rousey can get a rematch or there can be a number one contenders match to determine who will face the new champion at Summerslam. It seems fitting for Natalya to chase the title again. Then again, Shotzi did the majority of the work throughout the ladder match.

Bianca Belair successfully retained her Raw Women's Championship by pinning Carmella. However, Mella had the last laugh by attacking Belair. Expect to see Carmella and Belair in a Summerslam match. Possibly a triple threat match should Rhea Ripley be cleared to wrestle.

In the United States Championship match, Bobby Lashley kept his word and tapped out Theory. The Almighty slapped the hurt lock and forced the youngest champion to tap. Lashley is not the 3-time US Champion. For Theory, it wasn't over for him as I will explain later.

The Street Profits had the smoke and were fire throughout the unified tag team match against the Usos. Montez Ford hit the frog splash in which one would have expected the Street Profits to win. But Dawkins was not able to protect the three count as Jey Uso came to the rescue. The Usos would later hit the 1-D on Ford and retain the Unified, Undisputed WWE Tag team titles with controversy. In the replay, Ford's shoulders were off the mat. The referee was out of position to see. In the post interview, Ford was speechless while Dawkins talked out of frustration.

Regardless of the outcome of the match, the Street Profits should have never been in that situation. Dawkins should have done better and protected Ford when they had the Usos vulnerable and a sure win. Could the Street Profits be at the near end of their partnership? Small signs are being indicated that it may be a possibility.

In the main event, the men's ladder match raised its stakes as Theory was added to the match. Eight superstars were now competing for the briefcase. At the end, Theory won the briefcase and is now seeking a chance to become a world champion.

While Theory was celebrating his sweet victory, Happy Corbin came out and attacked commentator Pat McAfee.

McAfee was shown on UFC sitting alongside the McMahon family with a neck cast.

So what happens next...

The main event for Summerslam will be Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns for the Undisputed World Championship. Corbin and McAfee have an official match. Others will be the following prediction:

The Street Profits vs The Usos

This match may continue with controversy should Sami Zayn get involved.

Seth Rollins vs Riddle

During the match, Riddle RKO'd Rollins from the top of the ladder. That will not suit well for Rollins.

Bobby Lashley will defend his United States Championship. But it is hard to determine as to who will step against the almighty. Could we see Omos again? Or maybe Veer.

Judgment Day vs The Mysterios

But I would be careful about this match. There was a short video clip during the premium event that Edge may make his return. If so, we can see a possibility of Edge vs Finn Balor.

Bianca Belair vs Carmella vs Rhea Ripley, a triple threat match for the Raw Women's Championship

Liv Morgan defends her title against either Shotzi or Natalya.

And maybe the WWE will have a set match card for the Women's Tag Team Championship. Could Lacey Evans and Raquel become an official tag team partner. They look great together but who else will they be compared with? Natalya and Shayna Bazler?
