New Year's Evil on NXT prediction
NXT: New Year's Evil episode is on this Wednesday, January 6, 2021. And while it is called Evil, for many, it is a celebration or a religious holiday called, "Three Kings Day." Overall, WWE NXT is providing an event from the Capitol Wrestling Center.
The event was last broadcasted by WCW Monday Nitro on December 27, 1999. The resurrection features five set matches in which these superstars have scores to settle. Here are the following matches and predictions:
Finn Balor (C) vs Kyle O'Reilly (NXT Championship)
These two superstars will meet for the third time. Their first meet, Balor teamed up with the Street Profits and defeated the Undisputed Era in a 6-person tag match on October 18, 2019.
On October 4, 2020, O'Reilly battled hard to win the title but was not successful. The match lasted over 28 minutes. O'Reilly may had lost the match but Balor suffered a broken jaw in his first title defense.
*I do not expect a different outcome in this match but the action will be worth watching. Finn Balor will win this match and will get ready to face a bigger challenge in this next match.
Damian Priest vs Karrion Kross
Kross defeated Keith Lee to win the title on August 22, 2020. He had to relinquish the title due to shoulder injury, suffered in the match. Kross returned in December and defeated Desmond Troy. He and Scarlett put everyone on notice in the NXT. Then, Kross attacked Priest to continue to back up his statement.
On the other hand, Priest was trying to get back to the North American Championship title. His goal and the path has changed as he seeks revenge on Kross. The winner of this match will more likely receive an opportunity at the NXT Championship.
*Karrion Kross defeats Damian Priest. Kross will go after the tile. Priest may move to either Raw or Smackdown.
Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Gonzales (Last Woman Standing)
Ripley has been on the winning side in five of the six meetings that they crossed paths. Ripley defeated Gonzales at Halloween Havoc and both battled extremely hard at WarGames. This match is considered a game changer for their careers.
*I believe Gonzales may win this match outright giving Ripley an exit door to move on to the main roster. With the Royal Rumble approaching, I expect Ripley to enter the Rumble and steal the show. For Gonzales, she can carry the torch and seek a title opportunity that she deserves.
Tommaso Ciampa vs Timothy Thatcher
Ciampa is cleaning house. He does not like how the NXT locker room has become or what it stands. Ciampa targeted Thatcher and has been a feud as of late. Ciampa defeated Thatcher at NXT TakeOver Wargames. This is their second meeting, but it will be a fight pit match.
Santos Escobar (C) vs Gran Metalik
Escobar has been the champion going on 241+ days. It is a surprise to see the Lucha House Party in NXT. Metralik defeated The Miz on Raw, and with Lance Dorado, defeated Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza. Could we see a new champion?
*I like the direction to this storyline. I am hoping for Metalik to be crowned champion. He has the resume to become champion.
