NXT Reaction 02.19

02/20/2020

NXT Cruiserweight Championship-Jordan Devlin (C) defeated Lio Rush: Both superstars performed superbly that they should have been added to the NXT Takeover Portland card. To show off their abilities, they should open up the WrestleMania Kickoff, which is the grandest stage of all professional wrestling.

With Angel Garza at WWE RAW, it was brilliant to have Devlin pair with Rush. Devlin executed the Devlin Slide and retained the title. Let's hope this is not the last for the two of them as they can elevate themselves to a greater role with a great storyline.

Tommaso Ciampa's outrage

Ciampa interrupted a possible match of Austin Theory and an undisclosed opponent by ranting on the mic. He was upset about the outcome of the NXT Championship in which Adam Cole retained the title and Johnny Gargano selfishly denied Ciampa to win the match. Theory got into Ciampa's business by trying to step up. However, he was left laying on the mat. Ciampa and Theory are scheduled for a match next Wednesday on NXT TV.

Grizzled Young Veterans defeated Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza

Zack Gibson and James Drake dominated the match and made a strong statement that they will take over NXT. This sounds like a big push for the tag teams to collide with the Broserweights soon.

The Broserweights defeated Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan

There is no coincidence that NXT scheduled back-to-back tag team matches. Broserweights, the NXT Tag Team Champions, wasted no time to return to the ring and win their match. After their brilliant performance at NXT Takeover Portland, they remain active. We could see Grizzled Young Veterans as their next opponent.

Keith Lee defeated Kona Reeves

This was a no-contest as Lee gave the Big BangCatastrophic ending to send Reeves back to the locker room. Lee and Dominik Dijakovic will match again. It is no surprise to see this match since they set the standard on how to begin a pay per view event. The two largest athletes are the most athletic superstars in professional wrestling.

Chelsea Green defeated Kayden Carter

Green defeated Carter to win her first match. This can be the beginning of the Robert Stone era in NXT.

*On another note* Bianca Belair issued a warning at Charlotte Flair. She stated Flair did not belong in NXT but did not want her badly. At NXT Takeover Portland, Belair lost her match with Rhea Ripley. Flair attacked Ripley from behind and chose Ripley as her opponent at WrestleMania 36. Flair left the ring only to assault Belair when she was already defeated. It is mentioned that there is not a scheduled match for Belair at WrestleMania. However, we can go back to WrestleMania 35 where Charlotte squeezed her way into a triple threat match with Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. I predict that we will have a triple threat match for the NXT Championship. Flair is the Royal Rumble winner - Rhea Ripley is the NXT Champion - Belair is now the most talk about superstar in the WWE, eliminating eight superstars at the Royal Rumble and made a strong presence during the Survivor Series.

Velveteen Dream defeated Roderick Strong

After the victory, the Undisputed Era jumped on the Dream and laid him out. Dream crossed the line by wearing his wrestling outfit with Strong's wife on it. It is very hard to determine which direction Dream and Strong will go from here but if I were Dream, I would create an allied group to match the Undisputed Era.

(NOTE) We did not see Finn Balor. Finn Balor defeated Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover Portland. Adam Cole is claiming he is the best and will always be NXT Champion. Expect Balor's return a matchmaker - Cole vs Balor at NXT Takeover Tampa.
