Recap of NXT TV

Candice LeRae won the Battle Royal to become the Number One Contender for the NXT Women's Title.

The match that was dominant by Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzales found themselves eliminating each other by grappling over the ropes.  Katy Catanzaro used her impressive athletic skills (similar to Kofi Kingston's moments) to suvive elimination more than once.  However, Dakota Kai finished her off.  Shotzi Blackheart threw Kai over the ropes that set her and Candice LeRae as the final two competitors.  At the end, it was LeRae who was the last superstar standing.

Reaction - Candace LeRae has a greater chance to defeat Io Shirai.  Although she is 0-3 (Wins-Losses), LeRae has been defeated by pinfall and submission.  She can grow from experience and come out with a win.  On the other hand, Io Shirai has successfully defended the title twice over LeRae and Kai.  Shirai defeated Blackheart in an epic match last week.  She looks stronger in each match.

Tommaso Ciampa defeated Jake Atlas

Atlas wanted payback but things did not go as planned.  Ciampa hit the Willow's Bell DDT and a Fairytale Ending for the win.

Roderick Strong & Danny Burch defeated Fabian Aichner & Raul Mendoza

Strong working with Burch is a big surprise because I would had though Bobby Fish would be the man.  If not, why not Adam Cole as he is 1/4 of the Undisputed Era.  Rumors are spreading that Fish may have tested positive for COVID 19.  However, the show must go on and so they did that with a victory over Aichner and Mendoza.

Damian Priest defeated Austin Theory (non-title match)

Priest won outright against Theory.  The big news was the aftermath.  Johnny Gargano made his presence and gave him a sweet chin music.  This is a clear indicator that a match for the NA title will happen for Takeover.

Ridge Holland defeated Antonio De Luca

Holland scores his first victory since transferring from NXT UK.  He started competing with the top dogs in the business like Damian Priest and Johnny Gargano.  Now, we get to see how Holland can progress in NXT. He won by pinning De Luca after executing the Northern Grit.

Kyle O'Reilly won the Gauntlet Eliminator Match

O'Reilly, who is normally a tag team member with the Undisputed Era, went solo and was very impressive at his work.  He went to distance against Kushida, Bronson Reed, Timothy Thatcher, and Cameron Grimes.  Velveteen Dream interfered by attacking Kushida.  Reed pinned Kushida for the elimination.  O'Reilly took out Reed.  He continued to eliminate Thatcher and then applied the Technical Savage to tap Grimes for the win.

Reaction - O'Reilly is now the number one contender and will challenge NXT Champion Finn Balor.  Balor defeated Adam Cole for the title to become the two-time champion.   He will make his first defense at NXT Takeover.  It is a hard sell for O'Reilly to win but will be interesting to see how he will do solo with "The Prince."
