NXT Results and Reaction

04/22/2020

Opening:

A scheduled match between Finn Balor and Velveteen Dream nixed. Balor's locker room was a mess and his shirt found laying on the ground. What really happened? Nobody knows but an assumption of Karrion Killer. As the show continued, the Dream made his presence in the ring when the Undisputed Era interrupted. They would jump on Dream until Keith Lee came to the rescue. Roderick Strong and Adam Cole will be tag team partners vs. Dream and Lee for the main event.

Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzales defeated Tegan Nox/Shotzi Blackheart

Nox and Blackheart had a late rally but Raquel's strength and stamina took the best of them. Gonzales executed a one-arm powerbomb to Blackheart and pinned her for the win.

Reaction: I thought Nox and Blackheart had a chance to win. Unfortunately, Kai and Gonzales are that good. Curious at which direction Kai and Gonzales will go now that they put their competition to the back seat. It's too bad there are not more championship titles for the womens' divisions.

Jake Atlas defeated Drake Maverick

The match is total dedication for Maverick who is one of many that received notice that they will no longer be employed in the WWE. Maverick's attitude is to prove he does belong there and the only way to win is to beat the competition and win the Interim Cruiserweight Championship. However, he failed to execute the hurricanrana that allowed Atlas to complete his finisher, DDT for the win.

Reaction: A loss does not hurt that much for Maverick. He will have to win out if he gets a chance at the title. However, it does not look good. Atlas was impressed by Maverick's wrestling style as he wanted Drake to win.

Kushida defeated Tony Nese

Kushida applied a submission maneuver, the Kushida lock, that Nese tapped out.

Mia Yim defeated Jessie Kamea

Yim dominated and showed no struggle with Kamea. The interesting part was after the match when Charlotte Flair made her appearance. It is confirmed that Charlotte will challenge Yim next week before she defends her title with Io Shirai.

El Hijo de Fantasma defeated Jack Gallagher

It is Fantasma's wrestling debut in NXT. He won the match. During his promo outside the center, a SUV drove quickly for a snatch but Fantasma fought his way out of it. Who are the people responsible for kidnapping NXT superstars outside the center? Let's hope we can find out soon.

Keith Lee/Velveteen Dream vs. Undisputed Era

The match started fast with Cole and Strong attacking Lee and Dream from the start of the bell. They went back and forth but it was Priest who sneaked in and took out Lee. He hit Lee with a pipe stick to the throat. Refs and the medical team took Lee to backstage that left Dream by himself against the Undisputed Era. However, Dexter Lumis came to the aid for Dream and made things even. Lumis dominated and took out the competition allowing Dream to finish off Cole for the win.

Reaction: Last week, it was strange to see Lumis on what type of wrestler he would be in NXT. Tonight, he comes to the rescue. He still has an awe look in which leaves people to not really understand him. At the end, Lumis looked great against the Undisputed Era. What is Lumis agenda?

For Dream, he pinned the champ. A Cole and Dream match for the NXT Championship could be finalized next week.

Keith Lee was injured throughout the match by Priest. They have a scheduled match next week. Can Priest defeat Lee?

Here are the official matches next week on NXT.
