NXT Review and Reaction 04.15

Finn Balor defeated Fabian Aichner.

On April 15, WWE NXT Edition started off with Finn Balor vs. Fabian Aichner (a member of the Imperium). Aichner did well to compete, but he and Marcel Bartel could not stop Balor. Balor executed a drop-kick that set up the Coup De Grace into 1916 for the win.

The Imperium drew first blood when Barthel, Aichner, and Wolfe showed up at the NXT TV show and jumped on Balor. Balor retaliated at NXT U.K. On March 6, Balor defeated Alexander Wolfe and the next day, Kenny Williams. With the win over Aichner, Balor will have to wait until he gets his hands on Barthel before having the main event match with NXT U.K. Champion, Walter.

Charlotte Flair Making Promises

Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley to become the two-time NXT Women's Champion at WrestleMania 36. In her promo, she stated that she had dominated three generations (past, present, and future). Most superstars like to speak, but Flair speaks and executes. Her reasons to return to NXT is because everyone talks about NXT Women's division being the best brand.

Flair will defend her title against Io Shirai. The Queen did mention Mia Yim as a future opponent. The last time they match was on October 23, 2014.

Charlotte is very bold and a convincing heel to place herself as a perfect target for each woman to take shots at her. On the other hand, she did mention about defeating everyone from Smackdown and RAW. There is one person she missed. Her name is Shayna Baszler, who is currently on RAW chasing down Becky Lynch.

Xia Li defeated Aliyah.

The second match is the payback one. Aliyah sneak attacked Li during the qualifier Ladder Match. There was no way out for Aliyah as she was taken out by a spinning heel kick. Li got her revenge with a pinfall win.

Cruiserweight Tournament

Akira Tozawa defeated Isaiah "Serve" Scott

The match went back and forth. It was physical and a whole lot of action. In the end, Tozawa hit a diving senton for the win.

Both superstars are talented and deserving to be a Cruiserweight Champion. However, in this match, Tozawa is the better man. He was more prepared than anyone listed for the tournament. Since November 2019, Tozawa has fought Buddy Murphy, Andrade, Drew McIntyre, A.J. Styles, Aleister Black, Austin Theory, and Shelton Benjamin - all on Monday Night RAW. He is favorite to win the Interim Cruiserweight and has the potential to defeat the current Cruiserweight Champion, Jordan Devlin.

Tegan Nox defeated Raquel Gonzales

Let's give thanks to Shotzi Blackheart for helping out Nox get the victory. Gonzales dominated the match. Dakota Kai could not sit still as she had to get involved without the referee knowing. Blackheart laid out Kai, distracting Gonzales. Nox took advantage and rolled up Gonzales for a three count. Next week, Blackheart and Nox will team up versus Kai and Gonzales in a tag team match.

Blackheart and Nox have a common enemy. During the gauntlet match for the Ladder Match second chance qualifier, Blackheart eliminated four women. Kai was the last contender. She came close to defeat Kai, but Gonzales was a big distraction. As for Nox, she and Kai go way back to NXT Takeover: WarGames 2019 at Chicago, Illinois, when they started their feud.

Keith Lee and his Sacrifice

Lee described how he started from the bottom, and now he is there (Drake's music and lyrics come to mind). Despite the obstacles he faced, he managed to follow his dream at whatever cost. He was introduced to pro-wrestling by his Grandmother and his father did not like it. Amongst other details, Keith Lee is larger than life and is "Limitless." He is the North American Champion!

Dexter Lumis defeated Tahuti Miles.

Lumis has a haunting presence that can scare everyone around him. During the match, he executed a spine buster, stalked Miles, drove him to the mat and finished him off with an Anaconda Vice. Lumis won by submission.

As a fan, I am clueless as to what he sees and thinks. It is almost like he is a psycho looking to prey on someone.

The Velveteen Dream and his choice of words

The Dream looked forward to Adam Cole to make his presence. Instead, Cole sent a promo for him explaining nobody deserves the title. On Dream's counter promo, he stated that Cole is one of the greatest titleholders with the longest reign. That did not suit well for Finn Balor. Balor took offense to what Dream stated. Therefore, both superstars accepted the challenge for next week.

The way the match formulated is great for Dream. Should Dream defeat Balor, it will give him more ammunition to force Cold to defend the title. However, should Balor win, Dream will be out of the picture and Balor will find himself as the number one contender for the NXT Championship. After all, Balor is the best superstar in NXT.

The Balor and Walter match may be a delay because of the coronavirus pandemic causing flight regulations and stay-at-home procedures across the world.

NXT Tag Team Championship

The Broserweights defeated The Undisputed Era

Pete Dunne could not participate in the match. Instead, Dunne chose Timothy Thatcher to partner up with Matt Riddle and defended the NXT titles. Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish partnered up as well.

Riddle and Thatcher defeated The Undisputed Era.

Thatcher debuted NXT and went out with the victory by placing a Fujiwara armbar to help Riddle win the match and remain NXT Tag Team Champions.

Backstage, Dexter Lumis watched the match. It is unclear as to what Lumis observed. It is a possibility that Lumis may target Matt Riddle. On September 21, 2019, Riddle defeated Lumis at NXT Melbourne Show.

Karrion Kross attacks Tommaso Ciampa

Last week, we observed Kross in a black vehicle watching Gargano and his wife walk away from the gym and into their ride. It was believed that Kross had his eye on either superstar. Last night, the choice was made loud and clear. Kross attacked Ciampa and laid him out, interrupting a message for Gargano. So much for expressing Gargano as a better man. Ciampa will not focus on Kross as his next feud.
