Offseason transactions

The Red Sox have been busy quietly since being eliminated by the Astros in the ALCS.  Kyle Schwarber, Danny Santana, Travis Shaw, Adam Ottavino, Eduardo Rodriguez, and Hansel Robles all elected for free agency.  Matin Perez and Garrett Richards did the same, which were the two most disappointed pitchers in the roster.

Eduardo Rodriguez signed with the Detroit Tigers after spending six season with the Red Sox.  Others are still waiting to land a spot after the lockdown.  However, the Red Sox signed Michael Wacha, Rich Hill and James Paxton (who is recovering from Tommy John surgery) to fill in the gaps in the bullpen.  The Red Sox are bringing back catcher Kevin Plawecki and Ryan Brasier.

The Red Sox still have several positions to fill but there are a significant amount of players in the farm system that may receive a call up.  Everything is at a hold as MLB are scheduled for a lockout at midnight, December 2, 2021.
