Smackdown Review 02.12

On Monday Night Raw, Shane McMahon and Adam Pearce announced that WWE Champion Drew McIntyre will defend his title inside the Elimination Chamber.  In Smackdown, Roman Reigns will be defending his Universal title but with assurances.

Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion for over 166 days.  If you recall, Reigns shocked the WWE Universe with his return at Summerslam.  He won the Universal Championship in a triple threat match over Braun Strowman and The Fiend.  Since his victory, Reigns has convinced everyone that he is the Tribal Chief, the Head of the Table.  In Friday's episode, he made it known that he decides how he defends his title.  Reigns will skip out the chamber match and will square off with the winner on the same night - Sami Zayn, King Corbin, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, or Jey Uso.

Despite of the changes and stipulations about the Smackdown side of the Universal Championship, it seems as there is a stronger animosity between Reigns and Pearce.  The close up angle at the end of the opening segment with Reigns and Pearce standing nose to nose shows a potential match up in the near future.  Could we see them both match up in the ring or will Edge decide to main event WrestleMania for the Universal Championship?
