SummerSlam 2023 Prediction

by: Ovi Muniz

WWE Summerslam 2023 will be a night of surprises and upsets, with titles subject to changing hands. The event will occur on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. There will be 8 matches, with 4 being for the title. Here are my following predictions:

Undisputed WWE Championship - Tribal Combat

Roman Reigns (C) vs Jey Uso

The biggest climax within the Bloodline was at Money in the Bank. Jey Uso became the first superstar to pin The Head of the Table. However, the match was a tag team match with his brother Jimmy Uso and opponent brother Silo Sikoa siding with Roman Reigns. Jey has never defeated Reigns in a singles match. At Hell in a Cell 2020, in a "Hell in a Cell I Quit Match," it was Jimmy Uso who assisted in saying "I quit" and "I acknowledge" for Jey to retain the WWE Universal Championship. Almost three years later, it is the Bloodline as the center stage, this time for the Undisputed title and supremacy of the Bloodline. The biggest question the entire WWE Universe wants is, Can Jey win?

The Tribal Combat match is anything goes, and no one can interfere until the match is officially over. There is no disqualification, no count-out. The only way to win is by pinfall or submission.

Prediction: Roman Reigns wins

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lensar III

Cody Rhodes tried to get an upper hand on Brock Lesnar on Monday Night Raw. Only to be backfired with Lesnar's skills and perseverance. Lesnar laid punishment on Rhodes. Nonetheless, this may benefit Rhodes to better strategically and deliberately plan a way to eliminate and defeat Lesnar once and for all.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes wins (A win for Cody will push him for a title match, should there be no interference on his goals.)

World Heavyweight Championship

Seth "Freakin" Rollins (C) vs. Finn Balor

There is a statement that if someone can't get over the past, things won't change, and they cannot move on. Finn Balor is desperate to beat down Seth Rollins and win the championship that he had never lost (Universal Title) seven years ago at SummerSlam. However, things are becoming complicated for Balor and Judgment Day.

On Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest wanted to cash in the MITB briefcase. Balor hesitated and then agreed to do so, only that gave time for Rollins to prevent that from happening.

Just remember the reason Edge was ousted from Judgment Day. Edge was holding the group back. In similarity, Balor is keeping Priest from becoming champion. Should Priest come to his senses and evaluate what happened on Raw, he can take the initiative to cash in.

Prediction: Seth Rollins wins; Damian Priest cashes in and becomes the new heavyweight champion. (Balor would be the only person on Judgment Day without a title. Could his frustration cause friction within the group?)

WWE Women's Championship

Asuka (C) vs. Charlotte Flair vs Bianca Belair

Flair and Belair have been the center of attention towards each other instead of focusing on the champion. Though Asuka has made minor appearances, Flair and Belair's egos of who is better may take a toll and cost them the match.

Prediction: Asuka wins (Iyo Sky is the MITB winner. She does not cash in.)

Other match cards:

Intercontinental Championship

Gunther (C) vs. Drew McIntyre

Prediction: Gunther wins

Logan Paul vs. Ricochet

Prediction: Ricochet wins

Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler

As discussed in the HHWShow Podcast, I stated that Baszler is second to none. She does not want to be in the shadows of Rousey. That prediction came out correct, with the storyline quickly building to its hype.

Prediction: Baszler wins

SummerSlam Battle Royal

The focal point should be L.A. Knight and Sheamus. No other superstar benefits in this match.

Prediction: L.A. Knight wins (Knight's win could quickly jump in front for the United States Championship.

The ROCK (Dwayne Johnson) will "Rock Bottoms" Grayson Waller appear. It would be the third legend in WWE to put down Waller.

Rikishi makes a surprise appearance at the end of the main event.
