Urban Meyer ousted from Jacksonville; possible hire

This morning, people woke up hearing about the firing of head coach Urban Meyer. The Jacksonville Jaguars ended the debacle inside the locker room after 13 completed games. The move came with no surprises from Joe Aguiar, the host of All 4 Downs Podcast, who from the beginning mentioned it was the biggest mistake for Jaguars owner Shad Khan to hire him in the first place. Here is why:

1. Urban Meyer lied about knowing former assistant coach Zach Smith and the domestic abuse allegations. He was later suspended for three games.

2. Hired Chris Doyle after being accused of making racist statements. Doyle later resigned.

3. Meyer tried to get Tim Tebow to play Tight End. Tebow did not make the cut.

4. A video went viral on social media that showed Meyer receiving a lap dance. Another video surfaced showing Meyer inappropriately touching the woman's bottom area. It was not his wife.

5. Multiple sources in the media report friction with Meyer against the coaches and players.

Overall, hiring Meyer was the worst decision made by Khan. However, he can make a quick and positive change to the organization.

Byron Leftwich is the offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At age 41, he has accomplished so much, especially as a football player. He is known for his toughness at the University of Marshall. He lifted Marshall to a 64-61 overtime win over East Carolina in the 2001 GMAC Bowl. Leftwich and Chad Pennington, Randy Moss, and Doug Chapman were responsible for placing the MAC Conference on the map and weekly broadcasted midweek on ESPN.

Leftwich was drafted in 2003, first round, pick 7 to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent four seasons with the organization and left to play with Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Tampa Bay teams. Leftwich was part of the Super Bowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII.

As a coach, Leftwich was hired twice by Bruce Arians. First, he was the Arizona Cardinals quarterback coach and then later an offensive coordinator. Matt Leinart, Edgerrin James, Anquan Boldin, and Larry Fitzgerald were among the players Leftwich coached.

Later, Leftwich went to Tampa Bay and became the offensive coordinator. He has worked with Tom Brady and won the Super Bowl LV.

The Jaguars have their talented rookie quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence would need someone like Leftwich to guide and be successful in the NFL. Leftwich has done it and continues to succeed as a coach. Meyer had no business to coach in the NFL. Therefore, Khan can correct himself and hire Leftwich because of his experience and add a bonus because he is a minority.
