Week 2 Preview

(All-4-Downs Podcast) For the love of the game is heading to week 2. XFL drew viewers that topped over any major sports last weekend. This week, the games are going to be more challenging. We will have two teams remaining undefeated. Here are the following matchups for week 2:

New York Guardians (1-0) at DC Defenders (1-0_ (-6.5,47)

The Guardians defense played spectacular as they stopped Tampa Bay's offense from scoring touchdowns. They displayed a hard red zone defense that may cause difficulties to Defenders, led by QB Cardale Jones. The Guardian defense recorded five sacks and four takeaways while the offense led by McGloin threw 15-of-29 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown.

The Defenders scored 31 points, second highest behind the Houston Roughnecks. Cardale Jones threw 16-of-26 completions with 235 passing yards and two touchdowns. The defense only had one sack which may be a slight concern going against the Guardians offense that is well balanced in their offensive plays.

Tampa Bay Vipers (-2.5, 45) at Seattle Dragons

Both teams struggled and could not get a victory over their week 1 opponents. The Vipers lost 23-3 at New York and the Dragons lost 31-19 at DC. The Vipers would need to avoid turning over the ball while the Dragons need to improve in their passing defense.

Dallas Renegades (-4, 47.5) at Los Angeles Wildcats

Renegades missed an opportunity to give the fans the first comeback game of the weekend. Nelson threw 33-of-42 completions with 209 passing yards but was not able to guide the team to score a touchdown. In the fourth quarters, last possession of the game, Nelson drove the team across the field but managed to throw his first interception with 18 seconds left in the game.

The Wildcats struggled in defense as they gave up the most points in the league with 37 points. This led to the firing of Pepper Johnson who was the defensive coordinator. Very unheard of when someone is fired after one game. However, the team will have to move on and improve on their defensive tactics.

St Louis battlehawks at Houston Roughnecks (-8, 49.5)

Both teams were victorious in week 1 but only one team will be one of two undefeated teams at the end of the week. PJ Walker is the offensive player of the week and looks to continue with his success. Walker passed for 272 yards and four touchdowns. On the other side, the Batllehawks defend very well. They have not given up a touchdown and hope to contain Houston's Wide Receivers.
