WWE Women's Tag Team Titles Confirmed: Is it best for business?

02/21/2023

On Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch and Lita challenged Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO Sky) to a women's tag team title match. The title match will officially take place next Monday. But why have Lynch, a six-time world champion and a Hall of Famer, Lita team up and fight for a tag team championship? Is there not enough talent in the WWE?

In April 2014, Paige won the WWE Divas Championship over AJ Lee, which changed the culture in the women's division. It opened doors to other superstars like the four horsewomen - Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley. These superstars exemplified the grit of being athletic, charismatic, and a champion (including superstars - Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, and others). But most superstars that had potential were not used properly or not at all, resulting in being released. What if I told you that if the WWE wanted to strengthen the women's and the tag team divisions, all they have to do is search for other independent wrestling promotions as they do for the men? Here are the following women superstars that can make change and excel:

(no rankings)

1. Willow Nightingale - She is a star in every wrestling promotion. Willow has a connection with the fans that is unbelievable. She has wrestled in RISE, SHIMMER, WOW, and WWR and is a former two-time NYWC Starlet Champion. Willow is ranked 40 in the 2022 Pro Wrestling Illustration (PWI) Top 150 Females.

2. Megan Bayne - The Megasus has been a superstar since debuting in 2017. Seeing her in action at Northeast Wrestling, the fans are dazzled by her appearance and maneuvers in the ring. A singles competitor or a tag team with her former partner Callie Bae as "The Varsity Babes" would be fantastic. Bayne was a three-time OVM women's champion.

3. Tina San Antonio - She appears in several wrestling promotions and has wrestled with former WWE superstars. Observing her in Northeast Wrestling, she wrestled Scarlett Bordeaux and Megan Bayne.

4. Ashley D'Amboise - She appeared twice in the WWE. Ashley was involved in a KISS CAM segment with Los Lotharios. Later, she appeared as a ballerina on Smackdown. Ashley is a young rising star who has wrestled in 14 independent wrestling promotions, including AEW.

5. Renegade Twins - Charlette and Robyn Renegade are racking up tag titles. They are the NWA Women's Tag Team Champions and have wrestled in AEW. Charlette and Robyn Renegade have been wrestling since 2020 and have captured gold with CCW and MPW and ranked 73 of 100 Tag Teams with PWI in 2022.

6. Santana Garrett - She can return to WWE and seek her journey again.

7. Tessa Blanchard

8. Miranda Alize

9. The Vanity Twins

10. Christi Jaynes

11. Alex Gracia

Plenty of women are in the industry, including those in WWE NXT. The bottom line is that the WWE can do more than have repeats, matches, or storylines. The creative team and the WWE production can upgrade the women's division, but it seems unlikely.
