WrestleMania Backlash Review

05/16/2021

WWE WrestleMania Backlash is the PPV event that followed WrestleMania.  The vent took place at the WWE Thunderdome, Yuengling Center, in Tampa, Florida.

Rhea Ripley (C) defeated Asuka and Charlotte

WWE opened with the women's Raw triple threat championship match.  The match had constant action that if you were scoring fantasy points, it would had been a narrow finish.  At the end, Rhea Ripley pinned Asuka to win and retain the title.

For Charlotte, I do not believe that this storyline will end.  Charlotte was not pinned and showed her disappointment of the result.  I predict that Ripley and Charlotte will match again for the WWE Raw Championship.

Mysterios defeated Ziggler & Roode

For the first time in WWE history, Dominik and Rey Mysterio, are the first father and son tag team to win the Smackdown Tag Team titles.  The match started as a handicap match.  Dominik was ambushed backstage by the old tag team champs.  Thinking they had the advantage, Dominik appeared midway through the match and was able to help his dad conquer and win.  Dominik air splashed on Roode and got the three count for the victory.

Damian Priest defeated The Miz

Awkwardly, there were Zombies as part of the lumberjack match.  They were let loose by Johnny Morrison when he opened the door to find wrestlers to be reasonable for The Miz in his match.  However, it backfired and the place turned into the movie that will be on Netflix called, Army of The Dead.

Priest took care of business and his goal to win and they way to win was exactly what he wanted.  Priest wins and who knows what will be next for him moving forward.

Bianca Belair (C) defeated Bailey

Belair started hot and made life difficult for Bailey.  She man-handled her until Bianca found a way to get back on track.  Both superstars would show off their skills and enlighten the fans with their charisma, stamina, and athleticism throughout the match.  But it was Belair that had the upper hand and the hair to get the pin in her favor.

Bobby Lashley (C) defeated Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman

This heavyweight match lived up to the hype.  So much action from these superstars but only one can remain champion.  Drew demolished Lashley as he threw him into the LED lights.  Strowman would assault Drew throughout the match.  Both would go back and forth.  At the end, Drew executed the claymore.  Lashley would return to the ring and throw Drew out of the ring.  Then, Lashley spears Strowman for the win.

WWE announced that Hell in a Cell will be the next PPV.  Normally, the Money in the Bank would be the next PPV event.  There were no indicators or comments made as to why the change happened.  Hell in a Cell PPV is usually held in October.

Roman Reigns (C) defeated Cesaro

In what was an epic main event of the night, Cesaro's dream to be a champion diminished from Reign's guillotine that made him pass out.  Jey Uso came in to congratulate Reigns and then assaulted Cesaro while on the ground.  Later, Seth Rollins finished off Cesaro stating that nobody makes a mockery out of him.
