WWE Fastlane Match Cards and Predictions

WWWE Fastlane is scheduled to take place Sunday, March 21, 2021, and will be broadcasted on Peacock and WWE Network from Tropicana Field. Fastlane PPV debuted in 2015 with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan squared off in the main event for the number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31. On Sunday, both will have their rematch, but this time, it is to main event WrestleMania 37 as the Universal Champion. Other match cards consist of a total of four championship matches. Here are the cards and predictions:

Women's Tag Team Championship

Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (C) vs Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair

Jax and Baszler have gotten by each time they have defended the titles. Banks seems to be indirectly attached to Reginald, which prevents her from achieving a win for the titles and Bianca Belair. Belair is not pleased with the "Boss" and friction is beginning to erupt. However, Natalya and Tamina interrupted and assaulted Belair vs. Baszler's match, persuading officials and viewers to be in the hunt to become tag team champions.

Prediction: If this is a straight-up tag team match, expect Jax and Baszler to retain as champions. In reaching the impossible, I would like to see Natalya and Tamina force a triple threat match and have them steal the show by becoming the new tag team champions. It is a bit far-fetched, but this is the best scenario that will result in Jax/Baszler vs Natalya/Tamina, a WrestleMania match for bookings.

United States Championship

Riddle vs. Mustafa Ali

The rematch between these two for the United States Championship seems to be a kickoff match. Neither superstar are in a high-profile storyline. Ali's leadership seems questionable and does not convince a character to move forward to a mid-card match-up. There appears to be a missing angle in this storyline.

Prediction: Riddle retains as United States Champion

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

Last Smackdown was the second time we see Nakamura confront Rollins. However, this time, Nakamura told Rollins to shut up and placed him on his back. Nakamura had won the confrontation, but he may soon realize that he messed with the wrong person.

Prediction: Seth Rollins wins.

Alexa Bliss vs. Randy Orton

I do not believe that this will be an actual match. I predict a cinematic event where The Fiend returns to set up a match for WrestleMania. Or, we could see Orton facing himself. This storyline will eventually rise up and be the most talk-about match of the night.

Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus (No Holds Barred match)

Sheamus is doing his best to get into the title picture. He has lost to Drew twice (March 1 and 8). Bobby Lashley defeated Sheamus on the March 15 episode of Raw. Things are not looking for Sheamus and he will continue his slump.

On the other hand, McIntyre must need this win to have a rematch and revenge on Lashley. Drew lost the title to The Miz because of the assaults provided by Lashley at the Elimination Chamber.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre wins.

Intercontinental Championship

Big E (C) vs. Apollo Crews

It will be the sixth meeting of their career, with Big E winning all but one. Apollo Crews came out with a victory on January 22 episode on Smackdown when Sami Zayn interfered by attacking Big E. Crews had three opportunities to win the IC title and fell short. This time, Crews is a new man from his ancestors of Nigeria. He is wholly refurbished and believes he can eliminate Big E and become the new champion.

On the other side, Big E is furious, and his anger is pretty much out of control. Big E is desperate to get his hands on Crews for what he had done to him in previous weeks. Big E had to take some time off after a brutal attack by Crews in which Crews dropped the steel steps on Big E.

Prediction: Big E retains as IC Champ.

Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) vs. Daniel Bryan (Edge as special guest enforcer)

As stated in the beginning paragraph, the match is similar to six years ago. The winner will be the main event, WrestleMania. This time, the winner will be the champion and square off against Edge. It is hard to predict against Reigns after seeing his feud with Kevin Owens. Furthermore, the money maker would be Reigns vs. Edge at WrestleMania. Or, could we see a triple threat match because of Edge's involvement as the enforcer.

Prediction: Reigns retains and forms a controversy for Daniel Bryan.
