WWE Releases Superstars

On April 15, 2021, WWE announced on their website the release of the following superstars:

Billie Kay

Peyton Royce

Mickie James

Chelsea Green

Mojo Rawley

Bo Dallas

and Wesley Blake.

Samoa Joe made his unannounced debut at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable - during the main event after stopping Kevin Owens from attacking an injured Sami Zayn with a steel chair. He would make his in-ring debut on the June 10 episode of NXT. Throughout his tenure with WWE, Joe held the NXT Championship and the United States Championship twice each. Injuries prevented Joe from continuing his success to earn a world title shot. Recently, the WWE did not clear Joe for in-ring action. Instead, he was the Raw Commentator. However, last Monday night raw, he did not appear on the show. This may be believed that Joe and maybe other superstars were aware of the situation. The release of Joe drove the wrestling community to thank him on social media for all he has done for the business.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were by far elite when wrestling together as the IIconics. Both had their Breakout of the Year moment in 2016 with NXT. The women's tag team titles in a fatal four-way tag team event at WrestleMania on WWE. The IIconics held the titles for 120 days. Afterward, the team split up where Royce went to Raw and Kay gave her resumes on Smackdown. Their talents were missed as tag teams.

Mickie James returned to WWE for a second run. Between 2008 and 2011, James was the best in the business. PWI ranked her as one of the best superstars around the globe. She is a six-time world champion and will someday be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Chelsea Green, Tucker, and Kalisto were other superstars released. Neither did much in the WWE but be shadows for other superstars.

Bo Dallas was supposed to be the next big star after becoming the NXT Champion. We all Bo'lieved he had high potential in the business. Dallas took some time off while many believed he would return for a possible unity with his real brother, Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately, time went and many fans exploited his absence as a superstar who only collects a paycheck. Dallas' accomplishment was becoming a tag team champion with Curtis Axel. The B Team held the titles for 50 days and was defeated by Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre.

Lastly, Wesley Blake. This man did nothing wrong. Who knows what had happened backstage, but he and Steve Cutler were on their way to stardom on Smackdown to chase the tag team titles against the New Day. However, after the exploitation of Black Lives Matter, Jaxson Ryker made a political comment that took the Forgotten Son removed from TV. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura replaced them and carried on the feud. Blake and Cutler are left with "what could have been." However, Jaxson Ryker remains on the WWE roster with Elias.

How do you feel about these superstars being released? Which one would you have remained on the WWE roster?
